Excerpts from the 2008 PCPS succession survey research report

Earlier this year, my new firm took on a project for the AICPA’s Private Companies Practice Section (PCPS) to write content for their new Succession Resource Center. As one of the prongs of that project, we surveyed PCPS member firms regarding various succession issues. Here is an excerpt of our findings.
Survey results fell into two groups. The first group “Sole Proprietors” includes responses from:
- Sole proprietors
- Single owner firms – Single owners of practices that employ professional staff
- Sole (or solo) practitioners – Individual practitioners with no professional employees, who may or may not have administrative support staff
- Multi-owner firms
