OSCPA joins AICPA’s CITP Challenge
The Ohio Society will support AICPA’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness and recognition of the Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) credential by participating in the 2008 CITP Challenge.
Society members who are not members of the AICPA’s IT community but are interested in staying informed on IT-related issues impacting the CPAs will benefit by receiving AICPA 2008 Top Technologies Initiative content―accessible to the Society as a CITP Challenge participant. This includes an early release of the 2008 list and an invitation to the Top Technologies web seminar.
As an added bonus, Society members who apply for their CITP credential through July 31 receive $200 off the program enrollment fee of $550. Those who apply by April 30 will be entered into a raffle for free admission to AICPA’s Tech 2008 conference (an $800+ value). If The Ohio Society wins, we’ll be sending state representatives to Tech 2008 to receive the 2008 CITP Challenge Award.
The CITP Credential
The CITP credential is only available to CPAs who can demonstrate expertise in information technology (IT) through their knowledge, education and experience.
Currently, there are 57 CPAs in Ohio who now hold the CITP credential. While the majority of our state’s CITPs are in public accounting, there are CITP credentialed members in education, private accounting and IT consulting services. Ohio’s CITPs find this credential important for any CPA who is involved in providing technology services.
To be eligible for the CITP credential, CPAs must:
- Become a member of the AICPA
- Have a valid state-issued CPA certificate
- Agree to comply with the CITP recertification requirements
The application process consists of completing a CITP Credential application that awards points in three areas:
- IT certifications
- Business experience
- Lifelong learning
To learn more about the CITP or to apply and enter the CITP Challenge raffle, visit the AICPA’s Web site.
